It gives me a great deal of pleasure to bring you the Miss Southern Tennessee, and Miss Southern Tennessee Teen pageants.
We are honored to join our friends from CAARE, Generation for Creation, Boys & Girls Club, and Shohannah's Hope in their efforts to bring awareness, hope and their mission of making a difference in at least one life, one day at a time.
Over the years, I have competed in several pageants and have always enjoyed the friendly competitive atmosphere of striving for personal excellence. Because of pageants, I was able to grow stronger in the areas of poise, stage presence, interview, leadership, national and community awareness that have helped prepare me for many of the wonderful opportunities that have come into my life.
Representing Tennessee in the 2000 MISS USA* pageant was such a supreme honor and privilege. A whirl wind of high-profile and extraordinary opportunities soon followed. Among the many incomparable memories of my reign as Miss USA, I will forever cherish traveling throughout our great nation speaking at numerous charitable events raising money and awareness for Breast Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Foster Care and Adoption.
There are numerous distractions today that can be harmful and damaging to our lives and our spirits. However, pageants offer a unique and special outlet for young women to express themselves individually. There is no one specific mold that we are all to fit. We are each given different gifts for a purpose. Pageants are a way of celebrating these unique attributes by pulling together many different women who celebrate themselves and express themselves through personal style, communication, and achievement. Pageants are platforms that when used properly, becomes a journey of personal evolvement within our lives. Key elements of pageants are Preparation, Discipline, and Focus, mere fundamentals for achieving excellence in life. I have found the personal growth through pageants to be invaluable in my education, career, and charitable involvement.
As the director of the Miss Southern Tennessee pageants, I will endeavor to be a part of helping and guiding young women in Tennessee as they unveil their own mission of personal excellence, not only in pageants but also in the world. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you.
